Ederfuglen (The Eider)

The eider (Ederfuglen) by John Olsen, at the foot of Møllebakken

The Eider

The sculpture of the eider stands at the foot of Møllebakken at Johannes Larsen's Museum. The statue is financed by the New Carlsberg Foundation. The Ederfugle was presented in connection with the royal couple's visit to Kerteminde in June 2013.

The artist

John Olsen, born 1948, is a versatile visual artist: sculptor, graphic artist, draftsman, painter and photographer. Among other things, he is inspired by Johannes Larsen, whom he once met in his home on Møllebakken in Kerteminde. John Olsen is therefore naturally linked to Johannes Larsen's Museum, and the museum organized a large exhibition of John Olsen's works in May 2008, when John Olsen turned 70.
