On the mill hill you will find the Johannes Larsen Museum – one of Denmark’s most beautiful museums and, for many, a true hole-in-one where shoulders drop and the senses open.

Here you step directly into the well-preserved and atmospheric artist’s home of Alhed and Johannes Larsen, where both art and nature take centre stage in the exhibitions.

Make sure to stop by the café Kaffehuset as well – here flavour and atmosphere hit the mark, and you are welcomed into a warm and cosy setting, much like a hundred years ago.

The museum is closely connected to the garden, the surrounding landscape and the beach just below. Johannes Larsen – one of Kerteminde’s most well-known figures – was known as the painter of birds. In the natural area Sybergland, where he found his motifs, the swing of golf and the flight of birds now meet side by side.
